Adam and Eve were placed in the Garden of Eden and surrounded by beautiful trees, delicious fruit and mouth-watering fragrance. They could indulge to their heart's content, but one tree was forbidden to them. (1)
The presence of this tree prompts an obvious question. If G-d didn't want them to eat of this fruit, why did he place it in their garden? Parents, who don't want their children to eat candy, don't place them in front of the candy dish. more »

“In The Beginning G-d Created The Heaven And The Earth”. These words have sparked many arguments over the years, both theological and philosophical. Monotheism versus atheism, creationism versus evolutionism, religious over secular; a potpourri of choices are laid out before you and you are free to choose.
Wait! Have you read the last line? Is G-d something to choose, as one would, say a pair of pants in the morning? If I choose G-d then he exists if I don’t then he magically disappears? What happens if I change my mind mid-course? Are we saying that I can destroy or resurrect him by whim of choice? Furthermore, what does G-d think of those who destroy him, at least in the domain of their own minds? more »

By painting it with the brush of fantastic absolutism the serpent sought to heap upon Eve a crushing weight of inevitability. One cannot possibly survive without food, surely G-d could not have meant for us to starve. It would be ridiculous to consider this commandment in realistic terms. more »
