Our Parsha begins with the verse, "Re'e Anochi Noten Leef-ne-chem Hayom B’racha U’klalah." This verse is grammatically structured in both the singular and the plural. The Hebrew word, Re'e, see, is in the singular and the word, Leef-nei-chem, before you, is in the plural. Why is this verse constructed in such curious fashion?

Many grow up believing that they will parent differently from the way they were parented. Of course, when the time comes, they find themselves raising children precisely the way their parents raised them. Why is it so easy to repeat our parents “mistakes” but a struggle to teach ourselves new ways? more »

One would think that listening to G-d is a necessary yet insufficient condition for reward. To earn our reward we should be required to move beyond listening to actual observance. Yet the Torah stipulates that listening alone merits blessing, why is that? more »
