How did Moses survive for forty days on Mount Sinai without food? (1) Many shrug off question with, “it was a miracle.” But actually, the very fact that we ask the question demonstrates the limitation of our perception.

We are accustomed to deriving nourishment from food, but we never wonder why it must be from food. After all, it is not the texture or flavor of the food that nourishes, it is the nutrients that are converted into energy when metabolized. The nutrients are merely delivery systems for the energy, but G-d, who created this marvelous delivery system, can also deliver vitality in raw form.
